Vonage is finally profitable, even with $10 plans. No idea how that worked out except that most people aren't using the home phone. There was a buzz when Google Voice first launched. That has settled down since their acquisition of GIPS and Gizmo haven't made it to GV yet. There have been copies, like Phone.com and others. In response to ISP's that are reselling ILEC DSL and experiencing troubles, I gave the idea to sell T1's and larger circuits. You need less customers and make more money. BUT you have to sell. Many stories about customers of independent ISP's having DSL internet service disrupted by U-Verse. There will likely be more of this. What can you?Not much. Since 2005, DSL has been un-regulated. The Indie ISP is able to resell DSL off ILEC DSLAM's through the grace of the ILEC and the "strength" of your commercial agreement. This agreement does not mention DSLAM's or territory or availability. |
