The PR firm for Ikanos has reached out about Broadband 2.0. Apparently, Ikanos chips will be used for G.fast — using copper for something faster than VDSL2.
“At the rollout of G.fast, slated for early 2014, the technology is expected to deliver 1 Gbps data rates over a telephone line driving further consumer adoption of high-bandwidth video, audio and heavy-content applications. … G.fast technology is evolving from, and will co-exist with, vectored VDSL2 technology.” [Ikanos PR]
