The M&A Train Rolls Along

In the UCaaS space, “Fusion has completed the acquisition of the intellectual property and assets of Technology for Business Corporation (TFB), a provider of contact center solutions,” reports Channel Vision magazine.

In a different kind of merger, Genuity Networks in New Hampshire is merging two diverse broadband sources together. It is “based on technology from Mushroom Networks that enables the company to bond together landline or wireless connections from multiple network operators to create a single higher-speed and more reliable connection,” reports Telecompetitor.

CenturyLink acquires netAura, an IT security services firm that specializes in engineering, developing and consulting on managed security technologies. This gives them some cyber-security and security information and event management (SIEM) expertise.

Zayo nabs 2 data centers for $18.9 million in its acquisition of Clearview International LLC. That is 30,000 more square feet in Texas for zColo – in Dallas and Waco.

Meanwhile, CyrusOne is spending $22M to build another data center in San Antonio.

In addition, “CyrusOne quietly pulled off one of the biggest data center deals of the year, sale-leaseback of the CME Group 428,000 square foot Globex data center, outside of Chicago.”

“Global data center solutions provider CyrusOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:CONE) announced today that it has closed the previously announced acquisition of a suburban Chicago data center in Aurora, Ill., from CME Group. This transaction expands CyrusOne’s existing portfolio of more than 30 data centers across the US and overseas and provides customers involved in the global financial markets with connectivity and proximity to the CME Globex platform.” [source]

Wait! There’s more data center news!

Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT II, Inc. (“CVMC REIT II”) announced the acquisition of data center properties totaling approximately $24.2 million in aggregate purchase price. (1) CVMC REIT II acquired the Alpharetta Data Center III property (“ADC III”) on February 2, 2016 for approximately $15,750,000. ADC III is a 77k sf Tier III data center ihat is 100% leased to Sungard Availability Services, LP. (nice to have a long term tenant for the REIT).

(2) CVMC REIT II purchased the Flint Data Center on February 2, 2016 for about $8.5M.

Data centers are still hot due to cloud services ballooning. Also, it is easy investment for many because as a REIT (Real estate investment trust), it looks, tastes and smells like real estate. RE is the number one preferred asset for the wealthy.
